Lionsgate releases deleted scenes from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1

Enjoy exclusive clips from the making of documentary for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1

Looking to drum up hype for the release of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 Blu-Ray/DVD, Lionsgate has begun publishing deteled scenes and making-of videos from the bonus documentary. While I've yet to see Mockingjay because I refuse to support the trend of splitting the third book in a trilogy into two movies, the actual videos released today do seem rather fascinating, especially if you're already a fan of The Hunger Games series.

The first two videos are deleted scenes. The first is a scene featuring President Snow (Donald Sutherland) as he explains to Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) why he needs to be the Capitol’s “voice of reason.” The second clip shows Katniss Everdeen having her makeup applied as though she's attending clown school.

As someone who just started watching SyFy's Face Off, the third video is particularly interesting to me as it shows the making of the gruesome hospital scene. Not only do we get to see how the emotional scene was created from a makeup standpoint, but it also offers some insight into how some of the aspects of the scene actually had to be toned down for the film to achieve a PG-13 rating.

Funny enough, Hunger Games make-up designer Ve Neill is actually a judge on Face Off, and Josh Hutcherson even appeared on an episode of the show this season

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is available as Digital HD today; however, the Blu-Ray/DVD combo with the making of footage will be released on March 6.
