Live-action Death Note film lands a director

The director of indie thrillers The Guest and You're Next has landed his next film. Adam Wingard will be bringing the manga/anime Death Note to life with Warner Bros. Death Note has been made into a live-action before, but that was overseas; this will be the American rendition.

The film was previously to be directed by Iron Man 3's Shane Black. Roy Lee, Dan Lin and Jason Hoffs will be acting as producers for the film and Jeremy Slater, who wrote this year's Fantastic Four reboot, will be writing the script.

If you are unfamiliar with Death Note, it follows the story of a student who unwittingly discovers a book titled "Death Note." The book allows him to kill anyone by simply writing their name into it. It quickly becomes a game of cat-and-mouse when the government attempts to track him down.
