One of the founding members of hacking groups Lizard Squad and PoodleCorp has pleaded guilty to cyber crimes.
Zachary Buchta, now 20-years-old, was arrested last year in the United States for cyber crimes. At the same time, six other members, including fellow Lizard Squad and PoodleCorp core member Bradley Jan Willem Van Rooy (Bradley was arrested and sentenced in the Netherlands).
Buchta is being charged with launching a DDoS attack on both PSN and Xbox Live in 2014, as well as “initiating so-called phone-bombing schemes that inundated victims with harassing phone calls” and threatening the FBI.
After reaching a plea deal, the 20-year-old is facing a recommended two and a half year long jail sentence if he continues to cooperate with investigators. While the two and a half year sentence is recommended, Buchta could see up to 10 years of jail time for one count of conspiracy to commit damage to protected computers.
In addition to serving jail time, Buchta must pay $350,000 in restitution to two online gambling companies that was targeted by hacking groups.
