Lizard Squad joins in on the PSN, Xbox LIVE DDoS threats

The threat on Xbox and PlayStation continues to grow

In the world of hacking, DDoSing is comparable to a d*ck measuring contest. No one really cares except for those involved. And it looks like Lizard Squad wants to get in on some of the action. Proving they've got the biggest d*ck of all, the group has joined Phantom Squad in threatening Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network; although, it doesn't appear the two groups are working together.

Following Phantom Squad's recent series of DDoS attacks on Xbox LIVE, a hacking war of sorts has appeared to break out. A hacker group by the name SkidNP claimed to have hacked Phantom Squad's website. The group posted a screenshot of their work and left the following message:

“Hello Phantom Squad. Your website has been taken over by Lizards.”

“You took credit for multiple attacks that you nor any of your members did. We are not so happy about this so we’ve taken over your site. Here is a suggestion. Quit while you have the chance because if you take credit for the Christmas attacks it will be the last thing you do.”

According to the techworm.net@Obstructable (a SkidNP member) said the reference to Lizard Squad was a joke and the group is not linked to the notorious hacking crew from last year.

What's interesting, however, is that since then — as recent as a few hours ago — @Obstructable tweeted that they will now be working with Phantom Squad.

And if that weren't enough for gamers to worry about, it seems an old friend, Lizard Squad, has become active once again. The group, which has remained relatively quiet over the past year, retweeted a warning by one of its members, AppleJ4ck. Similar to Phantom Squad's threats, the group is warning that Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network will go down on Christmas day.

At this point, I don't know who's who anymore, but the threat on Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network continues to grow.
