Back in January, the German USK had apparently rated Lock's Quest for a release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Publisher THQ Nordic has officially announced that the game is indeed real and is part of its meaningful asset-program which is designed to focus on individual IPs over mid and long term timelines. Lock's Quest will also be coming sooner than you might expect as it is "mapped" for a release this April.
The game is being developed by Digital Continue, who says that they had to be very careful about preserving the integrity of the original while making the necessary upgrades to the game's visuals, controls, music, and features.
Reinhard Pollice, Business and Product Development Director at THQ Nordic, had this to say:
"We had the great opportunity to work with people from the original development team of Lock’s Quest, and things clicked right off the bat. It is one of those hidden gems and a fan-favourite, so when things fell into place, we quickly decided to do this."
Here's a feature list for the Lock's Quest Remaster courtesy an official press release:
Lock's Quest was originally a Nintendo DS exclusive that released all the way back in 2008. The game is widely beloved by fans, and now it is finally going to have a second shot at life on modern and prominent platforms. The remaster will launch sometime this April, and we will let you know when there is a release date.
