Life Is Strange, the emotionally rewarding interactive drama from Dontnod Entertainment is getting a sequel according to the developer’s co-founder Alain Damasio. In an interview Damasio recently confirmed via translation, "I worked as a script doctor on Life is Strange developed by the studio Dontnod and I will participate on Life is Strange 2 later".
The episodic time bending game focused heavily on the interactions and character development and is the second game from Dontnod to feature a rewind mechanic, the first being Remember Me.
Several months back Michael Koch, the game’s co-director, expressed an interest in treating the sequel in the manner and approach of shows like True Detective where the central themes and motives remain in place, but the cast is fresh with each pass. "We can really go with other characters, other locations, but still keep the identity of the game, the themes of the game," he explained. That approach is sort of the inverse of what we experience with other shows like American Horror Story where the cast remains but the world does not.
Life Is Strange did a fantastic job of capturing the mood of adolescence while managing to not get mired in the tropes of the genre, so seeing another story in the same vein would be more than welcome.
