Any hope Aaron Hernandez had of returning to the NFL, or society for that matter, was squashed today when the former New England Patriots tight end was convicted of first-degree murder and several weapons and ammunitions charges today.
Typically you can never rule out a player's return to the NFL, home of the second chance, but seeing as how his conviction for the murder of Odin Lloyd holds a life sentence without the possibility of parole, he's not getting out any time soon — or ever.
So what does this really mean? In short, justice. But it also means one of the NFL's most promising young stars won't be in the NFL or the Madden NFL video game franchise from Electronic Arts. It's fine though; he wasn't in Madden 15 and was removed from EA's NCAA Football 14 and Madden NFL 25 shortly after the incident.
I'm sure we'll all get along just fine. And I'm sure the Patriots will win another Super Bowl.
