Looks like Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered gets standalone PS5 release

One of the best PlayStation 4 exclusives will soon get a proper next-gen launch. At least, that’s what recent findings by internet users point towards (via Resetera). For a short time, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered’s webpage showed that users could purchase the PS5 remaster separately.

That might not seem out of the ordinary since next-gen remasters are widely common. But the deal with Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is that the only way to get the game on the PlayStation 5 is to own Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales. Up until now, that is.

Marvel’s Spider-Man originally launched for the PS4 in 2018 and instantly started smashing the charts. While Rocksteady proved with the Arkham series that comic book video games can be awesome, many gamers still expect disappointing adaptations. In the end, Insomniac Games delivered an outstanding game on its own right though thankfully. Not only that, but many even regard the Spider-Man game as setting the bar.

The official PlayStation website for Spider-Man Remastered briefly even had a price listing at $39.99. After users discovered this and talk spread across the internet, Sony changed the website and removed the price. Obviously, this only reinforces that the game will get a standalone release soon.

And it would make a lot of sense, to be honest. Why create hurdles for users who want to purchase your game? It’s not like Spider-Man Remastered can not stand on its own and has to rely on the selling power of Miles Morales either.

Both titles are widely regarded as one of the best exclusives for their respective PlayStation consoles, after all. Just earlier this month, Spider-Man Remastered even received a very welcome update that allowed ray tracing at the 60fps performance mode. Maybe it’s all part of the plan for a standalone release. At least, that would make the most sense.
