Lords of the Fallen 2 changes direction as executive producer announces departure

Lords of the Fallen 2 has suddenly changed direction as Executive Producer Tomasz Gop announced his departure from CI Games. Tomasz announced his departure through Facebook and then with a follow up email over at Eurogamer.

"We're grateful for his input, but we have different visions for further development of the series and Tomasz will not be a part of CI Games’ progress," CI Games said in a statement. "We want to reach a wider audience for this game. That's why we're building a richer story. We're aware that these aspects could've been better in first game, so the story is a big point of the sequel, along with robust fighting system. We want to bring something fresh to RPG games.”

"I want to respect CI's will to keep that [the reasons for their parting] between me and them," Gop said in his own statement to Eurogamer. "I wanted all the best for Lords but there's going to be someone else leading the project and we'll see if it will make it more successful than I could.I made [up] my mind a couple of days ago, we just wanted to figure out the best communication for both sides. I want to make games,I feel like I can add value to triple-A projects with my experience and would like to. I don't know what I'll do yet, but I'll be happy to even consider relocation for the right opportunity."

Gop was the spokesperson for The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings before taking charge of Lords of the Fallen. If you haven’t played Lords of the Fallen yet, you might want to wait for the Game of the Year Edition which is set to release June 26th. To help determine your purchase, read our review first.

Lords of the Fallen seemed to borrow a lot of elements from the Souls series, from combat, inventory to enviorment settings, it very much felt like a knock off Souls game, but it wasn’t. With both Gop and Deck13 parting ways with CI games, I wouldn’t be surprised if Lords of the Fallen 2 is a totally different game.

Lords of the Fallen 2 has a release window in 2017.
