Rocket League's latest patch, version 1.03, is expected to release this week (currently going through certification), and developer Psyonix has created a massive list of issues it should address. While these aren't the official patch notes, it does look like it will address a number of known issues plaguing Rocket League, including loud fan noise on PS4, the "offline" News Ticker, and much more.
While they didn't get specific, Psyonix promises "multiple crash fixes" for Steam users, as well as optimizations with the PS4 version that should improve Main Menu rendering on PS4. Addressing the subject of PS4 fan noise and potential overheating, the developer continued:
"Secondly, our community has found a very useful workaround to avoid the noise — simply use the Right Analog Stick and move the camera above the Battle-Car and it immediately lowers the load. Finally, ANY piece of computer hardware has the potential to overheat based on a number of circumstances beyond the game’s influence or control. Ventilation, system age, consecutive hours played, previous wear and tear, faulty equipment, or any other number of possible scenarios (or combination of scenarios) can lead to physical issues with the system."
Patch 1.03 should also remove the message "You are offline, please connect to the Internet to get updated news!" as well as issues affecting the "distance traveled" in Online games on PS4. While there was no promise for an exact fix, Psyonix added that they will continue to make additions and optimizations to support as many controllers for the PC version as they can. There was no timetable for when this will be complete, though.
