After spending two and a half years of development, Luftrausers has turned a profit in just three days.
Indie developer Vlambeer launched the aerial dogfighting game for PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita on Tuesday, March 18. It's already become profitable. Vlambeer wrote on Twitter that it's "super overwhelmed and thankful."
The success is a big deal for a studio that has dealt with cloning before with its titles, including mobile game Ridiculous Fishing and even Luftrausers itself, which started as a free flash game.
Vlambeer isn't the only indie developer recently to announce such an amazing turnout. Cellar Door Games revealed at the Game Developers Conference this week that it covered the development costs for its game, Rogue Legacy, in less than an hour of sales.
LUFTRAUSERS just became profitable. It had a two and a half year development cycle. We are super overwhelmed and thankful.
