During EA's stage event for Star Wars Battlefront 'Walker Assault on Hoth' made its gameplay reveal. The biggest surprise of the trailer was Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader making their appearance on the map (as seen above). Since then, we haven't heard much about the duo, but Senior Producer Jamie Keen has revealed a bunch of information on how Luke will play.
The only way you will be able to jump into Luke's or Darth Vader's shoes will be to locate a pickup for character. Once you become Luke or Darth Vader your health will constantly tick away, limiting your time as either individual. There is a way to extend your time playing as one of two, you just have to make sure that you keep killing enemies to keep your health up.
“Our goal was to give an average player around two minutes as a Hero or Villain,” says Keen. “But if you’re good enough, you might stretch that to around five minutes. In theory, you could play as Luke Skywalker for a whole match, but that is extremely unlikely. That said, the gauntlet is thrown!”
Luke's movements depend entirely on the conditions of his environment. In groups of enemies he can do do wide-sweeping heavy attacks with his lightsaber, looking to damage the most amount of people at once. Targets that are off in the distance will feel the Force — Luke can utilise both the Force Push to send troops flying and 'Saber Rush' to propel forward quickly.
Star Wars Battlefront releases on November 17th.
