Madden NFL 15’s top five ‘new defensive duos’ revealed with some player ratings

We're a little over a month away from the release of Madden NFL 15 and as teams prepare for training camp in real life, EA Sports is preparing us for some of the defensive behemoths we'll face in this year's Madden installment. With an increased emphasis on defensive gameplay this year, these "best new defensive duos" are going to be more intimidating then ever before. For those of you who prefer hard numbers, Madden Rating Czar Donnie Moore also gives us a taste at some of the player ratings.

Houston Texans – J.J. Watt & Jadeveon Clowney

Watt bosts an array of 95+ ratings for Power Moves and Block Shedding, while Clowney's sub-4.5 speed and "tremendous" burst off the snap will make him difficult to block. According to Madden Ratings Czar Donny Moore, this is a tandem to watch out for.

Denver Broncos – Von Miller & Demarcus Ware

As a Cowboys fan, I was sad to see Ware let go. While Ware's age and injuries appear to be catching up with him in real life, EA still thinks he's got some life left in his game, giving him 90+ ratings in both Acceleration and Power Moves. Coupled with Von Miller, who boasts OLB-best Finesse Moves and Pursuit ratings, the Denver Broncos' duo should give offensive lines all sorts of fits in this year's Madden.

New Orleans Saints – Jairus Byrd & Kenny Vaccaro

Who Dat Saints? Dat Byrd is the top rated Zone Coverage player in Madden 15. Strong Safety Vaccaro, meanwhile, brings some outstanding man coverage to the mix along with 90+ Hit Power.

New England Patriots – Darrelle Revis & Brandon Browner

How do you replace the departure of Pro-Bowl Cornerback Aqib Talib? If you're the Patriots, you go out and sign another. My friend — a New York Jets fan — threw his Revis jersey in the garbage when he found out Revis would sign with the Patriots. Understandable, given that Revis is one of the game's elite defensive players. And EA is showing Revis the love; he's tied as the top Man Coverage CB in Madden NFL 15. The guy on the other side, Brandon Browner, meanwhile, is a threat in the zone scheme with his top-five Zone Coverage rating for Cornerbacks.

Cleveland Browns – Joe Haden and Donte Whitner

Johnny Manziel is stealing all of the spotlight in Cleveland, but let's not sleep on Joe Haden and Donte Whitner. Haden is one of the best Cornerbacks in Madden NFL 15, with a 95+ Man Coverage Rating. Don't plan on running against the Browns either as Donte Whitner has outstanding Hit Power, Tackle, and Pursuit ratings.

There you have it, the best new defensive duos in Madden NFL 15. Surprised by any?
