Madden NFL 16: AFC East team ratings revealed

The New York Jets are a bit of a mess right now, but it's not because a lack of talent. If Ryan Fitzpatrick (78 OVR) or Geno Smith (76 OVR) can figure it out at Quarterback, then receivers Brandon Marshall (89 OVR) and Eric Decker (86) OVR) will flourish. But that's a big if. Defensively, they should be decent.

Notable players include:

• WR Jeremy Kerley (76 OVR)
• HB Chris Ivory (80 OVR)
• LE Muhammad Wilkerson (96 OVR)
• DE Sheldon Richardson (91 OVR)
• Darrelle Revis (97 OVR)
• Antonio Cromartie (86 OVR)

The Buffalo Bills are talented, no doubt, but they are also young. Can new head coach Rex Ryan right the ship?

He's got a stellar defense to work with, led by an excellent defensive line featuring DTs Marcell Dareus (94 OVR) and Kyle Williams (93 OVR). And at the cornerback position he's got three talented players:  Stephon Gilmore (86 OVR), Corey Graham (84 OVR), Leodis McKelvin (80 OVR), and rookie Ronald Darby (70 OVR).

Other notable players include:

• AB E. J. Manuel (73 OVR)
• HB LeSean McCoy (88 OVR)
• TE Charles Clay (86 OVR)

Could this be the year the Dolphins finally dethrone the Patriots? The Dolphins have fallen short of the playoffs the past two seasons, but with an improved defensive line and a suspended Tom Brady, this could be their year. But at just 81 overall, some player skill will need to be involved.

For the Dolphins, it starts on defense with newly signed defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and defensive end Cameron Wake, 96 and 94 OVR, respectively. Then there's lock down cornerback Brent Grimes with 87 OVR.

Following a breakdown of the top players at each position, EA Sports has revealed the overall ratings of the four AFC East teams in Madden NFL 16 — the New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, and New York Jets. Also highlighted is each team's best players.

New England Patriots – 91 Team Overall

For much of this century, the AFC East has run through the New England Patriots, who have won six straight divisional titles, and 11 of the last 12. So perhaps it comes as no surprise that the reigning Super Bowl champions are again the best of the AFC East with a 91 Overall.

It starts on offensive with TE Rob Gronkowski (99 OVR) and QB Tom Brady (97 OVR), two players who also make the top five for their respective positions. Other notable standouts include:

• Jonas Gray (72 OVR)
• Julian Edelman (89 OVR)
• Brandon LaFell (83 OVR)
• Danny Amendola (79 OVR)
• FS Devin McCourty (94 OVR)

• Jabaal Sheard (84 OVR)
• and Super Bowl hero Malcom Butler (76 OVR)

Of course, the real question is what would be the Patriots overall without Tom Brady, who will likely be suspended to start the season.
