Andrew Luck – Indianapolis Colts – 94 Overall
Andrew Luck starts off the Madden 16 season as the 5th best QB in the game, but with the weapons the Colts have brought in this offseason I wouldn't be surprised to see him have an MVP year. In Madden 16, Luck boasts the same league-high 95 Throw on the Run as Big Ben, with comparable accuracy at 88 Throw Accuracy Short, 89 Throw Accuracy Mid, and 75 Throw Accuracy Deep. He also has 75 Throw Power and 92 Play Action. Now we just need him to win the big game.
Unlike running backs, I think there's a little more room for debate when it comes to QBs. Like, for instance, EA dropping Peyton Manning out of the top five. Last year, Manning was the number one rated QB in the game with 98 overall. This year, we don't know what he's rated, but it's not top five worthy. Manning's play may have fallen off towards the end of the season, but I think that had more to do with injury than age. I expect him to bounce back this year.
There's also Tony Romo. Say what you will about the polarizing quarterback, there's no denying his impressive play last season. His 34 Touchdowns and 9 Interceptions last season makes me wonder that if Dez Bryant's . Makes me wonder if Dez Bryant's play had been ruled a catch, would an appearance in the NFC Championship game have been enough for Romo to crack the top five overall?
And lastly, I think one could make an argument for Matt Ryan, though he's a bit of a stretch. His overall would have to be based more on potential and less on last season. Ryan is poised for a breakout season and while his initial Madden 16 overall isn't top five worthy, I wouldn't be surprised to see him work himself up the ranks.
Did EA Sports get the top five quarterbacks in Madden 16 right? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
Drew Brees – New Oreleans Saints – 95 Overall
What can I say about Drew Brees? Dude is a stud. Even without Jimmy Graham on the roster, Brees remains a force to be reckoned with and in Madden 16, he starts the season with 93 Throw Accuracy Short, 91 Throw Accuracy Middle, and 79 Throw Accuracy Deep. He also boasts 87 Throw Power and 93 Play Action.
Ben Roethlisberger – Pittsburgh Steelers – 95 Overall
Big Ben is one of those quarterbacks, in my opinion, that you don't think is very good while watching him but then you look at his stats and are blown away by what he's accomplished. For instance, last season he threw 32 TDs and just 9 Ints. Not to mention, he's a beast to take down. In Madden 16, Roethlisberger's 95 Overall is aided by a whopping 85 Strenght, 95 Throw on the Run, 94 Throw Power, 92 Play Action, 87 Throw Accuracy Short, 90 Throw Accuracy Middle, and 73 Throw Accuracy Deep.
Yesterday, EA Sports gave us a sneak peek at Madden NFL 16's player overalls by showing us the top five rated running backs in this year's game. Today, we look at quarterbacks. Seeing as how the NFL has become more of a passing league, it's more important than ever for teams to establish a franchise QB capable of winning the big game. These five have already proven they can:
Aaron Rodgers – Green Bay Packers – 99 Overall
With a ridiculous 7.5 touchdown-to-interception ratio last season, it's no surprise Aaron Rodgers is the best quarterback in Madden 16. Although it took a bad ruling against the Cowboys to get his Packers into the NFC Championship game, Rodgers is clearly a MVP-caliber player. So in Madden 16 he boasts 95 Throw Power, 98 Play Action, and 88 Throw on the Run. He's also one of the most accurate in the league with 80 Throw Accuracy Deep (highest in the game), 94 Throw Accuracy Short and 92 Throw Accuracy Middle.
Tom Brady – New England Patriots – 97 Overall
Despite allegations of Deflategate which could sideline Brady for four games in the upcoming season, he remains one of the league's best quarterbacks. In Madden 16, Brady has 94 Throw Power, 96 Throw Accuracy Short and 97 Throw Accuracy Middle. His deep ball is a little underwhelming though, at just 70 Throw Accuracy Deep.
