Mafia 3 patch to bring 60fps + to PC version

Guess 30fps didn't fly.

Mafia 3 has offically released and while we aren't getting many official reviews anytime soon (2K didn't send review copies), we are getting a good idea of what the game offers.

The game is locked at 30fps on PC, but 2K is actively working on a patch to bring the PC version up to expected standards. The developers took to a post on the official Mafia site to detail the patch that is currently in development:

We currently have a patch running here at the studio that includes 30, 60, and unlimited frames-per-second options in the video menu, among other improvements for the PC version of Mafia III. We’re verifying the patch now to ensure everything is working as expected. If everything goes well, we expect the update to go live this weekend. We will be keeping the PC community up-to-date on the status of the patch throughout the weekend and thank you for all the feedback!

On top of the PC player's complaints on locked 30fps, some console users are also complaining. One Xbox One S user created a detailed report on their experience with Mafia 3 so far on Reddit, saying they experienced the following (with plenty of pictures and videos to support their opinion):

  • Unstable framerate.
  • Crushed blacks.
  • Insanely muddy reflections on vehicles and water(must be sub-720p reflections.)
  • Terrible AA that creates tons of blur.
  • Awful pop-in and draw distance.
  • Very low-polygon car models.
  • Low resolution(Either 720p or 900p but it's hard to tell with how blurry the AA makes the game).
