Major Nelson: Xbone nickname ‘disrespects’ the teams that worked on Xbox One

Shortly after the Xbox One's reveal, the internet quickly reacted to the unfavorable DRM policies by coining Microsoft's next-gen system the "Xbone" — a clever (or maybe not so much) play on the Xbox One name and the system "boning" customers with its DRM and other strict regulation.

Microsoft has since removed many of the initial unfavorable features, but the nickname has stuck with it, much to the displeasure of Microsoft's Larry Hryb (aka Major Nelson).

"I don't like it," Hryb said on NeoGAF. "It disrespects the teams that have put in thousands of hours (already) into the development of the product.

"Sure, it's cheeky," he admitted, "but I don't care for it myself."

The internet is never short of cleverly offensive nicknames, memes, and one-liners; but, honestly, I'm surprised Xbone is the best we could come up with.
