[UPDATE: Postponed] Make absolutely sure to tune in to this week’s PS5 The Future of Gaming event

UPDATE

Just as anticipated, Sony has just now announced that this week’s PS5 gaming event has been postponed due to the protests that are happening in numerous cities across the United States. Sony has not shared a new date as of yet.

ORIGINAL STORY

Sony is finally preparing to fully open the floodgates for next-gen. This Thursday, you can look forward to the PlayStation 5 and next-gen games for the console in the PS5 The Future of Gaming digital event. You can watch the stream on June 4th at 1 PM PDT.

After leaving the floor to Microsoft for months, where team green has been pushing their own Series X next-gen system massively, industry leader Sony is, at last, going to openly talk and show what they have in store for next-gen.

While in terms of pure technical specs the PlayStation 5 is for the most part trailing closely behind the Series X, it’s the brilliant first-party games that have always put the PlayStation brand one step above its most direct competitor. And that’s exactly what we are hoping to see in full force this Thursday.

Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan is promising to showcase plenty of PS5 games while reiterating that the console will launch as planned this year. While the charm of a live audience of past E3 is impossible due to the Coronavirus, Ryan still wants PlayStation fans to get as excited at home during the show.

And if rumors and teases from industry insiders and developers are anything to go by, we will all be thoroughly floored in the comfort of our houses. The sequel to Guerilla Games’ excellent Horizon Zero Dawn is heavily rumored, as is a sequel to God of War. Then there is the elusive big project by Bluepoint which many believe to be a remake of the PS3 exclusive Demon’s Souls.

But despite all this, we advise you to go into the PS5 The Future of Gaming event with a cool head. Gamers are still reeling in from the underwhelming next-gen focused recent Inside Xbox event.

Then there’s also the elephant in the room. In case you are that isolated at home as to not have heard. There are nationwide protests going on at the moment due to a horrific police killing. It wouldn’t come really as a shock if Sony decided to postpone the PlayStation 5 event a couple weeks due to that.
