Man of Steel 2 reportedly in development

Marvel went nuts with movies and now DC is too.

Warner Bros. has shifted their plans for the DC Universe into high gear, despite less than favorable reviews from critics for Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad. This push into the DC Universe has been a long time coming, but perhaps truly began (at least with this cast), in 2013 with the release of Man of Steel.

Man of Steel, produced by Christopher Nolan and directed by Zack Snyder, earned $668 million at the global box office – around $200 million short of Batman v Superman. While Warner Bros. hums along with a solo Batman spin-off starring Ben Affleck (and directed by Affleck as well), Superman will also be getting his own post-Batman v Superman solo film.

It wasn't detailed whether the Man of Steel sequel would pick up after Batman v Superman or if it was a prequel of sorts. However, sources close to TheWrap claim that "Superman is a top priority for the studio and getting the character right for audiences is of tantamount importance."

Warner Bros. has two untitled DC films to be released on Oct. 5, 2018 and Nov. 1, 2019, but hasn’t said what they will be. Henry Cavill is expected to return as Superman, though, it's interesting to see when he will find time to star in the film – as he's currently signed up for Justice League and possibly for cameos in the standalone Batman films.
