The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are sold and manufactured in China, there's nothing illegal about them coming in and out of the country…Unless you're looking to smuggle them.
China doesn't sell iPhones at low prices, Apple's flagship stores set a high price on those items – making smuggling iPhones into the country a nice business.
An unnamed Hong Kong citizen recently made an attempt to smuggle 94 iPhones into China using the "mobile armor" method. The mobile armor method, a frequently used method by smugglers, is when the smuggler takes the mobile phones they are smuggling and attach them all to their body.
This guy, the unnamed Hong Kong man, he simply doesn't understand metal detectors. One step through the detector and his smuggling mission came to an end. That wasn't the only thing that gave him away, perhaps it was because he strapped 94 iPhones in rings around his torso, thighs, calves and crotch, but his "weird walking posture, joint stiffness and muscle tension" raised the suspicion of authorities.
He would've gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for that meddling metal detector -oh, and the crotch strapped iPhones too.
The penalty in Hong Kong for smuggling can be seven years in jail time or up to $2 million in fines.
With 94 iPhones you could play a lot of Puzzle & Dragons.
