In response to the growing number of complaints that European game-publisher MangaGamer only licenses ‘cutesy’ moe-based anime games, it was announced at Otakon that they had acquired the title Zaishuu, Guilty-the Sin- from Tactics, part of the Nexton family; and for those of you familiar with KEY’s Jun Maeda, where he got his start.
According to vndb.org, the story is about Akira who made it his solemn duty to protect his sister so that they could live a normal life. As they grow closer to each other, others begin to wonder if there’s something that goes against traditional accepted norms and they gain attention from the outside world where there bonds are tested by a dark force of demons who are invading your town.
MangaGamer translator, Koryuu states that Guilty “boasts some of the best characters on offer between the games I’ve worked for in the MG catalogue so far. Every character has a personality, a human side, and doesn’t just register as the Tsundere, the moeblob, etc. Even your uncle is awesome, and let’s not get started on the hot teacher.” It’s a dark, gritty tale that was released in 2003, and is recommended for those who are tired of moe lovefests while straddling the fine line between horror and drama.
