March 2017 ‘Games with Gold’ titles for Xbox One, 360 revealed

Microsoft has revealed their Games with Gold titles for March 2017 and it's not that bad of a month! Next month, the psychological horror game, Layers of Fear, will be available for Xbox One owners, along with Evolve: Ultimate Edition, Borderlands 2, and Heavy Weapon.

A bit of information on the games:

Layers of Fear released in 2016 across multiple platforms and received fairly positive reviews. Evolve: Ultimate Edition includes the base game The Monster Expansion Pack, Hunting Season 1 DLC and Hunting Season 2 DLC. You probably are familiar with Borderlands 2, but if not, the first-person shooter released in 2012 and received great reviews. Finally, Heavy Weapon is a side-scrolling shoot 'em up game from 2005.

In March, Xbox owners that subscribe to Xbox LIVE Gold, Microsoft's online service, will be able to download these games for free.

As per usual, the Xbox 360 games downloaded through the Games with Gold promotion will be yours forever – whether or not you maintain your Xbox LIVE Gold membership. Xbox One 'Games with Gold' titles, however, will not be available if your subscription lapses.

Xbox One:

  • Layers of Fear (March 1 – 31)
  • Evolve: Ultimate Edition (March 16 – April 15)

Xbox 360:

  • Borderlands 2 (March 1 -15, Backward Compatible)
  • Heavy Weapon (March 16 – 31, Backward Compatible)
