Margot Robbie is doing everything she can to keep her character as Harley Quinn while on set. Whether it's keeping rats given to her by Jared Leto (Joker) or by tattooing her co-stars, Robbie is giving her all to the film — it looks like Leto is doing the same.
When asked about Leto's performance in the film by New York Daily News, Robbie replied that what Leto's portrayal of the Joker is "pretty impressive" and that "what he's doing with the character is so cool."
Filming for Suicide Squad finished last week and looking back Robbie notes the difference between the in-costume Joker and out of costume Leto:
"At first it was kind of confronting (to be up close) but now I'm so used to it, I think if I ever saw him out of makeup now I would be really confused," said Robbie. "Actually, I saw him out of makeup once and I was actually petrified of him. I was too scared to go up and didn't know who that person was, and when he got back into his makeup I was far more comfortable."
Now, pre-release interviews always seem to put actors on a pedestal, but Robbie's assurance of Leto's acting might help quell any fears that the community had over his look. As for her own character Harley Quinn, Robbie revealed that she was "absolutely nuts… she's either going to kill you or laugh and give you a hug."
Suicide Squad is set to release on August 5th, 2016, and stars Jared Leto (the Joker), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) and Will Smith (Deadshot), along with Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), Adam Beach (Slipknot), Jay Hernandez (El Diablo), Karen Fukuhara (Katana) and Common, in an undisclosed role.
