Back in May, it was rumored that Warner Bros. was working on a Suicide Squad spin-off film that would star Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, as well as "several of DC’s female heroes and villains." Fans have already made it clear that Harley Quinn deserved her own standalone film and it looks like Warner Bros. feels the same way.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the actress behind Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad is set to be the executive producer on a spin-off film focused on Harley Quinn, "as well as other DC heroines." That's right, the rumor from earlier this year has been confirmed.
There haven't been many details on the Suicide Squad spin-off starring Robbie, though it is being suggested that it will tie into the DC SuperHero Girls comic book that released earlier this year or the Birds of Prey comic series. DC SuperHero Girls focuses on Harley Quinn, Batgirl, Poison Ivy, Katana and Bumblebee.
Birds of Prey ties Harley in with the crossover into the 'Secret Six' team that featured Catman, Deadshot, Ragdoll, Scandal Savage, Knockout, and Harley Quinn .
On the other hand, it could be an entirely unique storyline that doesn't tie into anything or an origin story.
