Mario Kart 8 is about to get much harder

Is 150cc too easy for you on Mario Kart 8? Well, a new challenge is on the way.

Announced during last night's Nintendo Direct, for the first time in the Mario Kart series, a new 200cc racing class difficulty is coming to Mario Kart 8 for Wii U. As the number suggests, it'll be even faster than 150cc. The new high-speed class will work on all tracks and the game and, according to Nintendo, "makes breaking an important driving skill."

The new 200cc class will be offered as a free downloadable update on April 23, and will release alongside the new paid DLC Pack 2 which features three new characters, four new vehicles, and eight new tracks.

The Luigi death stare is about to get more intense.
