Mario Kart 8 trailer shows off remixed Rainbow Road, new items

Earlier today, Nintendo shared a ton of new Mario Kart 8 details, including revealing two new items and a ton of tracks. Now we have a trailer to go along with those announcements.

In the new video, you'll see the Piranha Plant and Boomerang Flower in action. As explained earlier, the Piranha Plan attaches to the front of your kart and chomps at other characters or objects. Each time it lunges to eat something, you receive a speed boost. The Boomerang Plant, meanwhile, can be thrown up to three times and stuns your opponents.

The video also highlights a few of the 32 courses offered in the game. Also confirmed today, Mario Kart 8 will feature 16 brand new tracks and 16 remixed classic courses which have been redesigned and re-imagined for the game's new physics. This particular video focuses on a remixed Rainbow Road, but other confirmed classics include Toad's Turnpike from Mario Kart 64 and Moo Moo Meadows from Mario Kart Wii.
