Mark Hamill will voice The Joker in the new adaptation of The Killing Joke from DC movies, Collider reports. He is said to have already recorded his voice work for the film, which is set to debut sometime in 2016.
Since the movie’s San Diego Comic-Con reveal, fans have been speculating on Hamill’s involvement in the movie. In response to a Twitter inquiry regarding a potential role, Hamill said:
You're not the only one w/ fingers crossed! https://t.co/PcKlgRQFaU

The Killing Joke, originally an award-winning graphic novel, was written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Brian Bolland. It is still the closest thing there is to an official Joker origin story. although recently leaked images from the upcoming movie Suicide Squad also hint at Joker’s origins, adding some fuel to the rumor.
Hamill, best known as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, is no stranger to the Joker. He's voiced the character in multiple animated shows, including Justice League, as well as the Batman Arkham video game series. Given his experience with the character, Hamill should have no problem tapping into what makes the Joker so twisted and fun to watch.
