Marvel and Telltale Games assemble for a new game partnership

Marvel Entertainment and video game developer Telltale Games have revealed a new partnership that will result in the development of a new game series set to premiere in 2017.

Telltale has already formed partnerships with numerous other entertainment behemoths that have resulted in various game spin-offs of blockbuster franchises, including The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones. The developer has also created The Wolf Among Us, a spin-off of the Fables comic series, as well as Tales from the Borderlands, which is actually an adventure game based on the Borderlands franchise from Gearbox. So a partnership with Marvel, easily one of the largest entertainment companies around, shouldn't come as much of a surprise.

Sure, the first game may be a long ways away, but given how full Telltale's plate has become, it's nice to see them still focused on their current series with expanding to new series too quickly. We already wait long enough for new episodes to release.

We don't yet know what Marvel entity the project will be based on, but Telltale's history with comics (The Walking Dead, Fables) should lend itself well to the Marvel universe. The quality of Telltale's storytelling coupled with Marvel's already expansive narrative certainly sounds promising. Looks like we'll have to wait for more details, though.
