Marvel eyeing Oscar nominee for for Doctor Strange Role

Could Chiwetel Ejiofor join Benedict Cumberbatch?

Marvel's Doctor Strange movie already has one Oscar nominee in Benedict Cumberbatch, who is starring as sorcerer supreme Stephen Strange, aka Doctor Strange. Now, Marvel is eyeing another Oscar nominee to joint he film.

Marvel is currently in the early stages of getting Chiwetel Ejiofor to join the cast, but for which character is unknown. Ejiofor was nominated for best actor for his performance in 12 Years a Slave, but he's probably best known among gamers and geeks as the villain in Joss Whedon's Serenity. Right now, he's shooting The Martian for Ridley Scott.

Casting is still a work in progress for Doctor Strange, but they have time. It doesn't begin shooting until after Captain America: Civil War, and Scott Derrickson is directing Doctor Strange. Derrickson has previously directed Deliver Us from Evil, Sinister, The Day the Earth Stood Still, and The Exorcism of Emily Rose. 

Doctor Strange has a release date of November 4, 2016.
