Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign coming to consoles

Marvel Puzzle Quest is yet another mobile phenomenon that tasks players to build their team of Marvel super heroes and match three shapes in order to damage. Today, D3 announced that the Steam port of the game, called Dark Reign, will be coming to consoles, however, unlike its mobile and Steam counterparts, this version will cost $14.99.

This is surprising since the PS4 just got Frozen Free Fall, which is also a match-three game, however, that one employs the free-to-play model. I'm curious to see how much different, and hopefully less annoying the pay-to-play version of Marvel Puzzle Quest will be. The Steam version was at some point pay-to-play as well, though it has switched to the free-to-play model with microtransactions.

The cool thing about Dark Reign on consoles is that it will allow both local and online multiplayer battles, as well as allowing you to team up with friends to battle others.

The game will release this year, though no specific date was given. It will release on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
