This past December, Telltale revealed its newest series at The Game Awards with their Guardians of the Galaxy series. We only saw a brief teaser of Starlord's tape player drifting through space with a 2017 announcement. Thanks to Gamestop, we now know the plot of the game and its release date.
According to the listing online, Gamestop indicates the first episode will release on April 25th, 2017. As expected, the game will cost $29.99 and include the already announced five episodes. The plot of the game was a bit wishy-washy with no concrete details, but the game's summary section reveals the following
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series delivers a brand new story of the universe's unlikeliest heroes, the rag-tag band of outlaws who go by the names Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. In the wake of an epic battle, the Guardians discover an artifact of unspeakable power. Each of the Guardians has a reason to desire this relic, as does a ruthless enemy who is the last of her kind, and who will stop at nothing to tear it from their hands. From Earth to the Milano to Knowhere and beyond, and set to the beat of awesome music, this five-part episodic series puts you in the rocket-powered boots of Star-Lord in an original Guardians adventure, told in the unique and award-winning Telltale style, where your decisions and actions will drive the path of the story you experience.
You can pre-order both of the games from Gamestop for Xbox One and PS4 here. After Batman: The Telltale Series, the developer has a lot to live up to. Bruce Wayne's new story was incredible and Guardians will need to do the same. The description sounds like a word for word play through of the first film, so we'll need to see how it plays out. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 also releases in theaters on May 5th, 2017
