Netflix and Marvel have just announced their second superhero show, Jessica Jones, will premiere this November. The series will be based off the Marvel Comics, originally created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos.
Taking place after a tragic ending to her short-lived Super Hero stint, the new series follows Jessica Jones as she rebuilds her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City.
Jessica Jones is the second of four planned Netflix original series produced with Marvel. Luke Cage and Iron Fist are still yet to come. Once all four Netflix shows are complete, Marvel and Netflix will create ’The Defenders’, which will feature all four characters in one show.
“A suspenseful, edgy look into the life of Jessica Jones, one of the most popular new Marvel characters of the last decade, as she faces demons from within and without. Jessica Jones is a very, very different show than Daredevil,” said executive producer and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg.
Krysten Ritter will star as Jessica Jones, David Tennant as Kllgrave, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Rachael Taylor as Patsy Walker, Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Traval.
Jessica Jones is set to premiere later this year on November 20th, watch the teaser trailer above.
