Marvel’s Avengers Gamescom demo walkthrough finally shows close to 20 mins of gameplay

Square Enix has finally released the full demo walkthrough of their highly-anticipated superhero action-adventure game Marvel’s Avengers. After the gaming press had the chance to see the game in action during this year’s E3, it’s finally everybody else’s chance to watch the demo. After being teased more than two years ago, fans of the massively popular Marvel movies and long-time comic fans have been eagerly waiting to see the much-fabled game in action. After a long wait, this year we finally got an in-game trailer which was pretty nice but it was soured after learning that the press at E3 were able to witness actual gameplay footage.

Regular gamers had to hold out a little longer until today. The A-Day Prologue gameplay walkthrough is now available for everybody to enjoy, and gives a great overview of the game in action. As the name implies, this demo is taking place at the very start of the game and serves to establish the actual story.

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco—including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

So, we don’t learn anything new about the game’s story that we haven’t already seen in the original trailer. But seeing every major Avengers character in action, with their unique skills and play-styles easily makes up it.

Marvel’s Avengers comes out next year, on May 15 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia.
