Mass Effect 3 confirmed as Wii U launch title with bonus content

Mass Effect 3 will launch on the Wii U with bonus DLC content including the recently released Extended Cut.

"BioWare is thrilled to launch our first ever title on a Nintendo console and our Mass Effect team is very proud to have the critically acclaimed Mass Effect 3 experience brought to the Wii U as a launch title," the company said.

As a Wii U title, Mass Effect 3 will feature a brand new control scheme designed to incorporate the Wiipad. BioWare didn't detail exactly how it will work, but an image posted with the GamePad controller shows the map and characters skills displayed on the touchscreen.

In addition to the Extended Cut, which provides "closure"to the controversial original endings, Mass Effect 3 on the Wii U will also include an interactive back story covering previous events in the Mass Effect universe and the new Multiplayer experience. BioWare wasn't specific in saying what DLC will be included at launch. Earlier this month Mass Effect 3: Earth was released, adding thre enew multiplayer maps and a new "Platinum" difficulty.

BioWare confirmed what we had already learned from a previously leaked Wii U launch lineup list. The list, which was leaked by GameStop, showed Mass Effect 3 as releasing on the Wii U during the "holidays". The Wii U doesn't yet have a release date, but is expected to release during the holiday season as well.
