Mass Effect Andromeda leaks and rumors

The internet is for not keeping secrets.

Unless you plan on locking creative and development teams in a cloister with monitored access to the internet tubes, leaks on major projects are essentially inevitable. And it looks like this is what’s happened with Mass Effect Andromeda, a game still roughly a year from release.

Mods over at the Mass Effect subreddit were contacted by an anonymous source who claimed privy to an early incarnation of Andromeda and was able to supply enough proof of credentials that the mods felt confident verifying veracity. The source also offered up a plateful of details about the new BioWare project, some expected, some provocative. While the mods shared the information for public conjecture, they also cautioned that it’s entirely possible that said details may be elaborated, eventually changed or outright false and that this leak should be treated as what it is- a rumor. But possibly a spoilerish rumor, so be warned.

  • While utilizing the sci-fi stand by trope of Homeworld Evacuation, you’ll be playing a character known as the Pathfinder, tasked with locating a new home for humanity.
  • You won’t be the only species looking for a new homeworld, and your squad will consist of at least one human buxom blonde and a Krogan.
  • Destructible cover will heavily feature, which follows since Andromeda will use the Frostbite Engine.
  • Some of the biggest changes seem to revolve around the ship itself. Much bigger than the Normandy and radically different in design, you’ll also actually pilot the ship rather than just select destinations as in previous incarnations of the series.
  • The enemies you’ll face appear to be an as yet unnamed bipedal race that is a cross between the Vorcha and the collectors and will be dropping from a ship carrying the Cerebus insignia.

As previously mentioned, this is all coming from an anonymous source who contacted Reddit mods, so take it with a big lick of salt. It’s entirely possible it’s a fabrication or even BioWare deliberately leaking misleading details to measure audience reaction. Either way, there’s no harm in this kind of speculation.
