In the next League of Legends update, patch 4.5, Riot Games will implement some "basic changes" to the game's rune system. Although the developer is "still committed to exploring the best way to make runes and interesting and dynamic system for all players," the next update will implement the following adjustments. Riot notes that only Tier 3 changes are being shared, but "you can assume roughly equivalent changes for the lower tiers). In all honesty, you should only be buying Tier 3 runes anyway.

To help you adjust to the changes, Riot will be offering a 30% off Rune and IP Boost sale that will last from the start of the next patch through the end of April. Unfortunately, no refunds will be offered for runes previously purchased or purchased between this announcement and the official sale start.
