We have seen Microsoft do a couple things in the name of charity before, back in 2013 the company auctioned off a Microsoft employee-exclusive White Xbox One to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project charity. The console ended up at a final bid of $11,300 and was sold with a free year of Xbox LIVE and a number of the console's launch titles.
Two years later, around the same time as the White Xbox One's charity, Microsoft has started another charity auction — this time for a bedazzled Master Chief helmet. The iconic helmet from the Halo franchise has been adorned with 25,000 Swarovski crystals and weighs about 5kg.
We call him Master Bling.
It's currently sitting at a $34,300.00 bid on eBay with three more days left. When the auction ends, the proceeds will go to the non-profit organization, Make-A-Wish Foundation. If you've got $35K on hand, the helmet can be shipped to all countries.
The helmet was designed by Taiwanese cosplayer Hsu Chia-Hao (he also goes by Braid Clarke) and blinged out by Australian designer Jenny Manik Mercian, who has put diamonds on plenty of Victoria's Sectret models and celebrities like Beyoncé and Gisele Bündchen.
It's worth noting that the "rare" white Xbox One that was put up for auction two years ago became widely available since the auction. Who knows… Maybe Microsoft will create a cubic zirconia covered helmet for the rest of us that have somewhere around $3.
