Max Landis shared HIS opening for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and it’s amazing

I'm pretty sure I can say that we are all eagerly awaiting the arrival of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that a reboot trilogy of an already rebooted trilogy is needed to fix the damage Sony has already done on their own. With a promising, star-studded cast of actors and actresses, Sony butchered a script for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and it ended up a hodge-podge of villains and tones. I like Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man/Peter Parker. I like Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. I like Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn. But I dislike the final product.

Maybe I would have liked it more if they used a story written by Max Landis.

Max Landis is a writer, best known for his Chronicle screenplay, which also starred DeHaan. He is also known for the hilarious The Death and Return of Superman short he made. On Twitter today, he said that he found an alternate opening for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 that he wrote, forgot about, and found on his computer today. Included with it is an imgur gallery of the script.

And it's amazing.

The movie would have opened in a bank, with Herman "The Shocker" Schultz destroying everything. The place is surrounded, hostages are being let go, and Peter Parker is trying to diffuse the situation — as well as another hostage. I love the writing, dialogue, and how events unfold. Sony might actually want to consider Landis when they make the new Spider-Man film.
