McGregor, McConaughey among actor in the mix for Doctor Strange role

According to a report from Variety, Ewan McGregor and Matthew McConaughey are among a short list of actors being considered and pursued by Marvel for the role of Doctor Strange. This comes after talks ended with Joaquin Phoenix, as he was reportedly uncomfortable with the contractual obligations that come with starring in a Marvel movie.

Now, Ewan McGregor is expected to meet for the role and has been doing research. Other actors in the mix are Matthew McConaughey (although he might be too busy), Jake Gyllenhaal, Jared Leto, Ethan Hawke, and Star Wars Episode VII's Oscar Isaac.

It's an impressive list, that's for sure. Personally, I like McGregor and McConaughey the best — McConaughey has proven that he can act circles around most of Hollywood, and he's come a long way from Failure to Launch.

Who do you think would be best for the role of Doctor Strange? Doctor Strange is set to begin filming in early 2015 with a July 8, 2016 release.
