Marvel has announced that Emmy-nominated actress Constance Zimmer will be joining season 3 of ABC's Agents of Shield. She will play the head of a mysterious new group "that will cross paths with S.H.I.E.L.D. as both seek out new Inhumans following the events of last season."
As the head of a newly introduced, secret government agency, both she and Agent Coulson will be attempting to locate new inhumans after the attack on their hideaway in the mountains. What is still unclear, however, is her intentions with the inhumans. Agent Coulson is, of course, everyone's level headed boss man when it comes to getting all sides of the story before acting. Whether Zimmer will be somewhat along the same mentality or completely different and view the inhumans as a dire threat has yet to be revealed.
While we'll have to wait for the season to learn more of Zimmer's character, my bet is on her approach being somewhat in the middle of Coulson and Edward James Olmos' character Agent Gonzales.
“When casting this role, we needed someone that could go toe-to-toe with Coulson,” said series Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb. “Constance brings a level of wit and spark to the role we could have only dreamed of, and we’re beyond excited to add her to our already stellar cast going into the new season.”
The studio also announced that the Inhuman character Lash, along with other secret warriors (inhuman fighters), will be introduced throughout the season as well. If you're unfamiliar with Lash, he is an Inhuman warrior among a group of outsiders that do not believe all Inhumans be able to exist. He attempts to seek out these unworthy Inhumans and eliminate them as he distrusts both them and their human friends. Using both powers of teleportation and energy conversion in order to keep the number of Inhumans to what he believes the appropriate and worthy amount.
