Meet Destiny: The Taken King’s new boss, Darkblade

Darkblade is just one of the many challenges you'll face aboard the Dreadnaught in The Taken King. You can find more details about this new "inscrutable loot-filled fortress" here.

This week's update from Bungie took us on a detailed tour of the Dreadnaught, the new "space-faring fortress of destruction" coming with Destiny's next expansion The Taken King. Part of that tour included a sneak peek at one of the new bosses you'll face in a Strike that takes place aboard this massive ship — Darkblade.

"The Darkblade along with many other Hive abominations are waiting for you on board the Dreadnaught. Oryx has built an army for them to lead, bristling with combatants that were taken from our world, twisted by the Darkness, and sent back to prevent you from looting their fortress," Bungie teased of the menacing new boss who wields a giant axe.

While Darkblade's mechanics and abilities will likely remain a mystery until The Taken King launches this September, the developer did share with us concept art, which you can see below.
