The Evil Within isn't just another survival-horror game out to get some cheap scares. There's some actual meat to this game, led by a star-studded cast that Bethesda Softworks today revealed.
Among the cast is Academy Award nominee Jackie Earle Haley (“Lincoln,” “Watchmen,” “A Nightmare on Elm Street”), Screen Actors Guild Award nominee Jennifer Carpenter (“Dexter,” “Quarantine,” “The Exorcism of Emily Rose”), and film and television star Anson Mount (“Hell on Wheels,” “Safe”). Of course, leading them is Tango Gameworks studio head, and legendary game designer, Shinji Mikami.
So what makes this cast perfect for The Evil Within? For starters, Jackie Earle Haley — the voice of The Evil Within's main antagonist, Ruvik — is no stranger to playing the evil villain. In the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street he played Freddy Krueger. Meanwhile, Anson Mount is making his video game debut as lead protagonist Sebastian Castellanos, a police detective struggling to survive in this twisted world. Meanwhile, Jennifer Carpenter, known for her role as Debra Morgan in Dexter, will voice Sebastian's Junior Detective partner, Juli Kidman. What's neat is, you'll be able to play as Juli in the post-launch content.
“One of the most crucial elements to any successful survival horror game is the setting and sound, which includes the depth and authenticity of the voice acting,” said Mikami. “We brought together a great cast of experienced actors to help ensure that players really believe our characters’ emotions and the tension they feel in every scene.”
