Archery is all the buzz right now. Thanks to The Hunger Games and Hawkeye in The Avengers, and even the upcoming Green Arrow show Arrow, kids are more into archery now than ever. With the Olympics currently happening, I found myself watching the improbable silver medal of the United States men's archery team.
And then there's Team USA member Khatuna Lorig, the female archer that taught actress Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss) how to shoot a bow and arrow for The Hunger Games. I guess you can say that the mentor before Haymitch came along. In the above picture, Olympian Khatuna Lorig poses in the Katniss Everdeen garb — a replica jacket from the film with a mockingjay pin — to celebrate The Hunger Games' impact on the sport.
Khatuna Lorig finished fourth in the London Game's women's individual archery tournament, losing the bronze medal to Mariana Avitia of Mexico. Lorig is 38-years-old and a California resident, and she is participating in her fifth Summer Olympics.
The Hunger Games releases on DVD and Blu-ray on August 18.
