Meet the villain of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3

The main antagonist of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be played by Christopher Meloni, GameInformer reports.

Meloni’s casting matches up with Kevin Spacey’s part in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and extends the series’ love of Hollywood actors. The villain’s reveal follows a new story trailer (seen above) showing a technology-driven plotline.

“In our quest to create the ultimate soldier, we’ve pushed for the enhancement of our greatest weapon: our mind,” the presumed protagonist says. “But with this new power comes an unimaginable new threat.”

Meloni is best known for his work on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, as well as HBO’s OZ. More recently, Meloni worked on True Blood, Man of Steel and Underground. Notably, this will be his first major role in video gaming.

Putting a face to its villain is the latest in Black Ops 3’s growing line of marketing pushes. Just recently, the Call of Duty Twitter account used a long line of intentionally vague reports on fictional terrorist attacks to promote the tension inherent to the game’s plot.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will release for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PC on November 6. Players interested in seeing Meloni play the bad guy will want to pick up a current-gen version of the game, as the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will not include the single player campaign.
