Oh boy, after recent leaks Konami has indeed brought over three classic MGS titles alongside a retro Castlevania & Contra collection to the PC. Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance are now available after decades.

When Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid, and Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance ratings leaked a couple of days ago, we suspected that a timely release of the classic titles would happen on PC. But we didn’t think it would be that fast.
Just as the leak promised, three MGS titles and a collection of NES & SNES Castlevania & Contra are now available on the PC platform. It’s a huge occasion since MGS 1&2 are readily available digitally for the first time. What many might not know, those two titles did launch for PC back in the day but being pure physical releases, it became very difficult to own and play them.
After restoring classics like Blade Runner and Diablo, we bring you some of the best KONAMI classics in versions that are fully playable on modern computers. Join Solid Snake, Simon Belmont, and other heroes on the quest to save mankind, while having many hours of fun in the process!
Now, these sorrows are gone for good. Available exclusively on GOG for PC, gamers can experience the brilliant beginnings of the Metal Gear Solid franchise. Priced at a very low $9.99, it’s a no-brainer for any Hideo Kojima fan. The Castlevania & Contra collection and MSX classic Metal Gear on the other hand comes in at an even cheaper $5.99. We suspect today’s releases will make their way onto Steam sooner or later.
While it’s great news for Metal Gear fans, it turns out that the re-releases are the original PC versions and not the updated remasters of the last-gen HD Collection. A real shame that Konami opted for this route. It’s also not out of the question that Konami plans to release the untouched PC originals for now while working on porting the entire Legacy Collection that spans the entire series. Here’s hoping.
