Metal Gear sales reach 31 million

Metal Gear, the Konami-published, Kojima Productions-developed, stealth action franchise, has reached 31.1 million worldwide sales as of December 2011, Konami announced.

The original Metal Gear launched for MSX2 hardware in 1987. The most recent release, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, launched for 3DS late last month. Kojima Productions have outsourced Bayonetta developer Platinum Games for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, a Raiden-centered spin-off due for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year.
