Metal Gear Solid movie nabs itself a writer

I didn't even know this movie was being made...?

Sony is laying the ground work to begin filming a Metal Gear Solid film. Maybe this is why Hideo Kojima jumped ship from Konami? Now, if you didn't even know that a Metal Gear Solid movie was in production, we are in the same boat — if you did know…Why didn't you tell me?!

It seems as the movie is being produced by Avi and Ari Arad, the producer's of The Amazing Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, and the yet-to-be-released Popeye, and Michael De Luca the producer of Fifty Shades of Grey.

The director of the project is Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who is best known for The Kings of Summer. You might be wondering why you never heard of him or if he's directed any blockbusters. If you aren't into the independent film culture, then you probably haven't heard of him (*puts on hipster glasses*). Vogt-Roberts' films debuted at Sundance Film Festival and SXSW (he's also directed the we series Memoirs of a Manchild).

As for the writer, it's Jay Basu, a British writer that was previously reported to be working with Universal Pictures to reboot classic monster movies. He most recent film was Monsters: Dark Continent.

The movie doesn't have any cast as of yet, so there's a lot of directions this movie could go in…it could be made or it could be cancelled.
