Metro: Exodus was undoubtedly one of the more surprising announcements from E3 2017, but a welcome one none the less. Being debuted at Microsoft's presser, they were but one of several developers using their game to show off Xbox One X, and developer 4A Games is very confident that the added power of the console will only help showcase the world they are trying to build.
Speaking with the Official Xbox Magazine (via WCCFTech) 4A's Executive Producer Jonathan Bloch talked about the benefits of the hardware and revealed a few inside secrets on how the E3 trailer came together.
He said:
"The power of the Xbox One X will allow to ensure the game looks amazing. The trailer was recorded in-engine from a gameplay sequence players will find later on in the game. We removed things like HUD, and Quick Time Events prompts, choreographed the playthrough and music to fit the needs of the trailer, but the game looks like what you see."
Knowing that the trailer is not a final representation of the game itself is not terribly surprising, it's a well-known fact that these "gameplay demos" are heavily choreographed for the sake of time and cleanliness. But at the very least the trailer (embedded) above should still retain the same level of visual fidelity in the final release.
Metro: Exodus releases on Xbox One, PS4, and PC in 2018.
