Metro & Insurgency devs and 7 more studios acquired by Embracer Group

Saber Interactive gets two new quality studios

Embracer Group, the parent company of game publishers Saber Interactive, THQ Nordic, and Koch Media is growing larger and larger. In its latest coup, the company has announced the acquisition of 8 development studios. The standout being 4A Games from Metro fame.

The Embracer Group is continuing its trend to establish itself as one of the biggest players in the gaming industry by massively bolstering its selection of owned talent. 4A Games who won over the hearts of gamers with the excellent Metro series is now under the helm of the Embracer Group.

It’s quite peculiar that pretty much coinciding with the announcement of the studio’s acquisition, 4A Games tweeted out that they are recruiting new talent for exciting future projects. 4A Games CEO Deam Sharpe said the following about the deal, leading to speculations about the future projects from the talented Ukrainian studio.

Embracer Group and Saber Interactive are the perfect partners for 4A Games and for our next phase of growth. Together we will continue to build on the Metro franchise and will focus on bringing a multiplayer experience to our fanbase. We look forward to building a new and even more ambitious AAA IP in the near future

New World Entertainment is also part of the acquisition spree and will no doubt offer their expertise in the realism-inspired first-person shooter genre. If their past projects like Insurgency Sandstorm are anything to go by, the future is bright for the studio with the backing of the Embracer Group.

Both 4A Games and New World Entertainment are now part of Saber Interactive

Other studios that are part of this batch of acquisitions are as following:

  • Deca Games
  • Vermila Studios
  • Rare Earth Games
  • Palindrome Interactive
  • Pow Wow Entertainment
  • Sola Media
