Metroidvania-like 2D platformer Xeodrifter exploring the 3DS this December

Classic 2D platforming (retro/pixelated games are so hot right now)  is far from dead, there are still plenty of games that make use of the genre, in fact, most of the games that follow that genre tend to cite Castlevania and Metroid as inspiriations – but I digress.

Xeodrifter is a 2D platformer filled with shooting and exploration. The game's Director took to Twitter today to reveal the games price and release date for the 3DS.

In the game we play as a nomadic intersteller drifter as he investigates a cluster of four planets looking for scraps to fix the warp core on his ship after it was damaged by an asteroid. As he investigates for materials to fix his ship…things go awry. That's where the shooting comes in, our little drifter has to blast his way through aliens in order to survive!
